Why SSC uploads get rejected
Most rejections trace back to one of a few causes, and file size is only the most obvious one.
- File size outside the allowed range. Both a file that's too large and one compressed so heavily it looks blurry can trigger a rejection.
- Wrong aspect ratio. Cropping a rectangular photo down to fit a square-ish frame without adjusting the crop first can cut off the top of the head or chin.
- Old or informal photo. SSC notifications typically ask for a photo taken within the last few months, against a plain light background, without sunglasses or a cap.
- Signature scanned instead of hand-signed on white paper. A signature typed or stamped digitally is usually not accepted; it needs to be signed by hand and then photographed or scanned.

Does SSC require Aadhaar specifically, or is any photo ID accepted?
SSC application forms generally ask for a photo and signature upload, not an Aadhaar upload by itself. Aadhaar becomes relevant at the exam centre, where it's one of the accepted photo ID proofs alongside PAN card, passport, voter ID, and a few others listed in the admit card. Check your specific notification's ID proof list rather than assuming Aadhaar is mandatory.
What happens if my SSC photo upload is rejected?
The application portal usually gives a reason, most often file size outside the allowed range, wrong dimensions, or an unsupported format. A common but less obvious cause is a photo taken more than a few months ago or one with a colored or patterned background, since most SSC notifications ask for a plain light background.
Can I use the same photo for multiple SSC exams (CGL, CHSL, MTS)?
