Why bank exam uploads get rejected
Bank recruitment portals tend to validate uploads more strictly than some other exam bodies, so a photo that would pass elsewhere can still bounce here.
- Exact pixel dimensions, not just an aspect ratio. IBPS and SBI forms commonly check for 200 x 230 px specifically, rather than accepting anything close to that ratio. A photo that's 205 x 235 can still get flagged even though it looks the same size to the eye.
- Face not centered or proportioned in the frame. Because the photo frame is small, a face that's off-center, too zoomed in, or too far back gets rejected more often than it would on a larger-format exam photo. Center the face and leave even space on both sides before cropping.
- Signature scanned with a blue tint. A signature signed in blue ink and then scanned or photographed sometimes comes through with a visible blue cast instead of solid black, and some portals reject or flag this. Sign in black ink where the form allows it, or convert the scan to grayscale before uploading.
- File size just outside the 20 to 50 KB band. The allowed range is narrow. Compressing too hard to hit a small file size can blur the photo past the point where facial features are clear, which is its own rejection reason separate from the file size check.
None of these are hard to fix once you know what the portal is actually checking. Does the same photo work for both IBPS and SBI applications?
Usually the dimensions are close (around 200 x 230 px for the photo), but IBPS and SBI publish their own notifications and don't always keep the figures identical from one recruitment cycle to the next. If you're applying to both, open each notification's photo specification separately and re-crop if the numbers don't match exactly, rather than assuming last cycle's photo is safe.
What ID proof do I need at the exam center versus what I upload online?
The online application only asks for a photo and signature file that meet the pixel and file size limits; it doesn't ask you to upload an ID document. Aadhaar (or another accepted photo ID like PAN, passport, or voter ID) comes into play separately, at the exam center, where you carry the original document along with your admit card. Read the ID list on your admit card, since accepted documents can vary slightly by exam.
I'm applying to IBPS PO, IBPS Clerk, and SBI PO in the same cycle. Do I need a different photo for each?
Not necessarily a different photo, but check each application's specification page before you upload.
